The forty-eight year old WBO heavyweight champion, Mercer, knocked out Sylvia in twelve seconds. The match itself was controversial before the match even started. The fight itself was supposed to be a boxing match, but because of lack of supervision, the Association of Boxing Commision pulled the plug on it. The fight was therefore illegal. But it was reschedule under mixed martial arts rules.
